In January, the traffic of goods in the port of Venice grew by + 20.6%

In January 2016 the Venice port handled 2.26 million tons of cargo, with an increase of + 20.6% compared to 1.87 million tons in January 2015. The goods at landing were up +21.2 % to 1.86 million tonnes and those boarding grew by 18.0% to 401 thousand tons.

The overall increase in traffic recorded at the beginning of this year was generated by the significant rise in bulk cargo volumes, with the liquid which totaled 785mila tons (+ 28.7%), of which 685mila tonnes of refined products (+ 39.4%), and the dry bulk rose to 817mila tons (+ 34.1%), of which 296mila tons of coal (+ 12.0%), 164 thousand tons of feed, fodder and oil seeds (+88, 4%), 51 thousand tons of minerals (-3.5%), 34 thousand tons of cereals (-39.6%) and 272mila tons of other dry bulk (+ 83.4%).

Various goods were virtually unchanged since they accounted for 658 thousand tons (+ 0.5%), of which 432mila tons of containerized cargo (+ 19.2%), 65 thousand tons of rail vehicles (+ 8.4%) and 161 thousand tons of other general cargo (-30.6%).

In passenger traffic sector it has been less than three thousand persons (+ 7.8%), of which 497 cruise passengers compared to 111 in January 2015.

Meanwhile, today the Multiservice terminal of the Venetian port are two great games twin boilers, produced by Macchi, division of Sofinter group, which are designed in the Middle East. It is the first two parts of a plant for the production of industrial steam and electricity that will be completed in 2016 thanks to the sending of other four Parties always with technology and production Made in Italy. Last December Sofinter has chosen to open a manufacturing plant in Porto Marghera where the road system and access to the docks has been specially designed to facilitate the boarding of exceptional necks.
