Traffic in Chinese Ports Last month the Chinese ports handled a total of 1.0 billion tonnes of cargo, an increase of + 6.6% about October 2015. The only sea ports have totaled a traffic of 681.2 million tonnes (+7 , 0%) while domestic ports handled 327.2 million tonnes (+ 5.8%).

The main ports for traffic volume were Ningbo-Zhoushan with 76.6 million tons (+ 9.8%), Shanghai with 54.5 million tons (+ 2.8%), with 47.0 million Tianjin tonnes (+ 3.8%), Tangshan with 45.8 million tons (+ 13.4%), Guangzhou with 45.3 million tons (+ 13.3%) and Qingdao with 41.8 million tons (+ 4.8%).

The only containerized traffic handled globally by Chinese ports amounted to 18.5 million TEUs (+ 5.9%), of which more than 16.4 million TEUs handled by seaports (+ 5.2%) and 2, 0,000,000 TEUs from internal ports (+ 11.5%). The major container traffic volumes were handled by the ports of Shanghai with 3.2 million TEUs (+ 6.6%), Shenzhen with 1.9 million TEUs (-3.2%), Ningbo-Zhoushan with 1, 8,000,000 TEUs (+ 7.9%), Guangzhou with 1.7 million teu (+ 12.8%), Qingdao with 1.5 million TEUs (+ 3.1%) and Tianjin with 1.2 million teu (-2.1%).

In the first ten months of 2016 the total traffic of goods passed through the Chinese ports amounted to 9.8 billion tons, an increase of + 2.7% on the January-October period last year. The maritime ports handled 6.7 billion tons of cargo (+ 2.6%) and inland ports nearly 3.1 billion tons (+ 2.7%).

In the first ten months of this year the most significant volumes of traffic were handled by the ports of Ningbo-Zhoushan with 772.4 million tons (+ 2.0%), Shanghai with 532.9 million tons (-1, 6%), Tianjin with 459.9 million tons (+ 3.2%), Guangzhou with 428.3 million tons (+ 3.9%), Tangshan with 427.5 million tons (+ 4.7% ) and Qingdao with 418.0000000 tons (+ 2.9%).

The total traffic of containers amounted to 180.7 million TEUs, with an increase of + 3.7% over the first ten months of 2015. The maritime ports handled 161.4 million TEUs (+ 3.5%) and inland ports 19.3 million TEUs (+ 5.9%). The port calls with greater volume of container traffic results are Shanghai with 30.8 million TEUs (+ 1.3%), Shenzhen with 19.9 million TEUs (-1.4%), Ningbo-Zhoushan with 18.2 million teu (+ 3.9%), Guangzhou with 15.0 million TEUs (+ 7.0%), Qingdao with 15.0 million TEUs (+ 3.9%) and Tianjin with 12.1 million teu (+ 5.1%).
