RINA: new office in Hamburg

 RINA-logo  The Italian classification and certification society RINA  has opened its own new office in Hamburg. It is about 1000 sq.mt. overlooking the port of the German city and arranged on two floors in the modern Coffee Plaza Tower. The new office will operate a team of 30 people, of which about half of German nationality.

The company is present in Hamburg by over ten years, where activity has been expanded from assistance to ships that calls on German ports and support to local manufacturers of components with the required certifications for installation at more extensive assistance the ship owners and shipyards in Germany, providing not only the traditional classification services, but also all the certification and inspection services and engineering consulting activities.
Massimo Volta, general manager of the North and Center Europe for RINA Services , explained that “the German RINA classed fleet now has 75 ships, nearly two million gross tonnage, with an additional million and a half (10 ships) in order , including – he said – the first cruise ships in the world to be powered by LNG, ordered by Carnival group at the Meyer Werft shipyard. The first signs – said Volta – show us that already in 2016 our German fleet could grow by 25% and we have a great ambition: to become a reference partner for ship owners in the German market. ”
