Hapag-Lloyd expects further growth of economic performance of the group in 2016   The German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd has  presented the final results for the year 2015 budget, which it was filed with revenues of over 8.8 billion euro, with an increase of + 30% over the previous year. The significant increase in turnover was the acquisition of maritime transport services of containers of Chilean CSAV, whose performance activities were recorded for the first time in the annual budget last year of the German group. Resulting in an increase it was also marked by the costs of transport services operated by the group, which amounted to nearly 7.3 billion euro, an increase of + 20% on 2014.
In 2015 the operating result was positive for 310.3 million euro compared to a negative result for -414.1 million euro in the previous year. Hapag-Lloyd closed the year 2015 with a net profit of 113.9 million euro compared to a net loss of EUR -113.9 million in the previous year.
“The result of the year – said the managing director of Hapag-Lloyd, Rolf Habben Jansen – is in line with our expectations. Hapag-Lloyd has achieved what we promised. Even compared to our main competitors – said Jansen – Hapag-Lloyd has made incredible strides and is back among the top performers in the industry. We worked hard for this success by integrating fast activity in the container of the CSAV and taking advantage of synergies as well as with the program to reduce costs and increase efficiency Octave, which from 2016 will produce an overall contribution to results totaling 600 million dollars. Over 70% of the expected improvements have already been achieved in 2015. In the wake of this success – said the CEO of the German group – at the end of 2015 we have already started the Octave 2 ‘.
Jansen has announced that at the beginning of 2016, “the development of the activity is in line with expectations. We – he added – we believe that the consolidation of the current and new alliances that are forming are to contribute to market stability and – has specified – we believe that there will be some recovery in the market. “ Based on these positive Hapag-Lloyd outlook it predicts that in the year 2016 will record a slight increase in EBITDA and a net increase in operating income compared to 2015.
